Junghans wurde 1861 von Erhard Junghans in Schramberg im Schwarzwald gegründet — zunächst als Zulieferer für Uhrenteile, ab 1866 mit eigenen Uhren. Der Aufstieg war rasant: 1903 war Junghans die größte Uhrenfabrik der Welt, mit über drei Millionen Uhren im Jahr und zeitweise 10.000 Beschäftigten. Auch technisch blieb die Marke vorn — 1990 gelang ihr mit der Mega 1 die erste Funkarmbanduhr der Welt, gebaut aus Titan, dem Werkstoff dieser Junghans-Ära. Diese Damenuhr aus der Zeit um das Jahr 2000 steht in genau dieser Tradition: kissenförmiges Titangehäuse mit Mineralglas, wasserdicht bis 50 m, dazu das originale Titan-Gliederarmband mit goldfarbenen Einlagen und dem achtstrahligen Junghans-Stern auf der Faltschließe. Titan ist leicht, hautfreundlich und nickelfrei — deshalb trägt sich die Uhr auch heute noch außergewöhnlich angenehm. Der Zustand ist sehr gut, mit nur minimalen Tragespuren. Ein zurückhaltendes, sehr tragbares Stück deutscher Uhrmachertradition.
Junghans was founded in 1861 by Erhard Junghans in Schramberg, in Germany's Black Forest — first as a supplier of watch components, then, from 1866, making complete watches of its own. Its rise was remarkable: by 1903 Junghans was the largest clock and watch factory in the world, producing over three million pieces a year and employing up to 10,000 people. It stayed a technical pioneer, too — in 1990 it launched the Mega 1, the world's first radio-controlled wristwatch, built in titanium, the signature material of that Junghans era. This ladies' watch from around the year 2000 sits squarely in that tradition: a cushion-shaped titanium case with mineral glass, water resistant to 50 m, on its original titanium link bracelet with gold-tone inlays and the eight-pointed Junghans star on the folding clasp. Titanium is light, skin-friendly and nickel-free — which is why this watch still wears exceptionally comfortably today. Condition is very good, with only minimal signs of wear. An understated, highly wearable piece of German watchmaking tradition.
